This on-the-spot Mashup of “Don’t Stop Believin'” and “Let It Go” on Canada’s Got Talent is Unexpected Magic!

Joel Lightman and Donavan LeNabat, two piano playing men from Toronto who perform under the moniker The Great Canadian Dueling Pianos took the stage of Canada’s Got Talent. The audience had no idea they were about to witness something that would leave them breathless. While other contestants simply enter the stage and join the platform by walking, John and Donavan stroll onto the stage and when they reached the middle of the platform, both of them flashed a big grin to the judges and the audience warming the curiosity from them on what the two men were going to do next.

After several questions from the judges, the duo asked the judges to give them two completely different songs they could perform as a mash up. one of the judges Howie Mandel proposed Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’, while the Canadian rapper and record producer Kardinal Offishall asked for Frozen’s “Let It Go.” The audience as well as the judges burst into laughter when they could not imagine how the duo will execute a perfect mash up between a ballad and a rock anthem.

Joel and Donavan performed the two anthems successively, which should not have worked but did, and the musicians also sang it very well! It was not what people would expect, but they pulled it off impressively! They combined the rock of power of Don’t Stop Believin’ and the feeling of Let It Go. It was the kind of show, where you could see how they improvise, how they pay attention to each other, and how they amuse the audience. It was definitely watching two experts at their craft go to work entertaining!

The performance moved the four judges and the audience way beyond their expectations. The audience stood on their feet and clapped for the performers, hooting and cheering throughout. Even Howie Mandel praised the duo and said that the performance was worth a million dollars. The famous YouTube personality Lilly Singh said she could watch the duo twenty times more and she was smiling through the whole show. Joel and Donavan said that Kardinal Offishall, who is claimed as a total music expertise, agreed and said that Joel and Donavan were much more hip-hop than they believed, and they have the ability to mix different styles into tracks that most DJs can. The piano-playing duo received four “Yes!” from the judges and each of them was clear and loud.

The Great Canadian Dueling Pianos, Joel and Donavan, were energetic, good entertainers, musicians with good chemistry between them and the judges as well as the audience wanted more of them.
